I fear the silence

I fear the silence now,
I cover my skin with television
And radio noise.
I surround my silence with book
Upon book upon book;
Even music has too much silence in it,
For the pictures call out
To be made by me; out of my silence.
So each tune, is accompanied by silent television
And a book.
And I fear the silence now.
The sound of the wind, the rattle of the rain
Is too silent so
I cover my skin with television
And radio noise.
I never feared it before, but
I fear the silence now.
