I use this little model in workshops on change themes, sometimes. I usually draw or ask someone to draw an eagle, a lion and a bull on the board and then we explore the model which, essentially, explores the “head, heart, guts” view of change, where we usually, depending on our personality, feel more open to change if it makes sense, feels right, or motivates us into action (we can see it working).
It’s a metaphorical way to explore these three orientations to sense-making of change.
The Test of the Head (The Eagle)
Does it make sense to use it generally/in this instance ?
“fits the facts”
The Test of the Heart (The Lion)
Does it feel right to use it? Does the thought of using it fill me with positive/negative feelings ?
The Test of the Guts (the Bull)
Does it work in Practice ? Does my intuition tell me its worth using ? Do I get the urge to get up and do It?
